Cowboys and Native Americans Party

This party theme is a classic and very easy to implement. Costumes are mandatory if you choose this theme, but can be easily obtained. You can set up a booth just outside the party area and give out cowboy or feather hats to invited guests. Face painting is optional, but a good idea, especially if kids are involved. And because we live in a very politically correct era, replica guns and bows and arrows can be replaced with water pistols or paintball guns (for an adult party). For laughs, have someone dressed in a black cloak and hat take down all the height and width measurements of the guests as they arrive so they can be fitted for their coffins. For decor, you can set up a tepee or a tent and a totem pole made of cardboard boxes in the backyard. Put up some “Wanted” posters with pictures of your guests around the house and cover your dining table with a red and white checked cloth. For a further sense of authenticity, you may start a bonfire in the backyard and tell stories or sing songs after dinner. For activities, you can start by having a stick-horse race. You can chart a course along your backyard by lining it with balloons. This activity can easy be made into a relay as well. Buy a large stuffed cow and some rope and let your guests try to lasso the cow andbring her in! You may also setup a game console in the living room and load it with a “shoot-em-up” game to determine the sharpshooter in the crowd. Or, you could line empty tin cans along a wall and issue each cowboy a water pistol, the winner being the one who could fill the can up the most. For the Native Americans in the group, issue them with a bow and some sucker arrows. Place a target on the wall for them to shoot at. Last, certainly but not least, the food has to be in tune with the theme. Some ideas would be beef jerky, fried chicken, corn on the cob, chili, hot dogs, burgers, and root beer. If the weather is good, fire up the barbecue and have a cookout. Finally, if your guests are up for it, stick on a CD of line dancing music or buy a learn-to-line-dance DVD. It’s sure-fire fun!
