Bond, James Bond!
Everyone wants an evening of glitz and glamor with an undercurrent of excitement and secrecy. A secret agent party is the perfect way to harness the experience of a night of international espionage. You can easily keep your guests entertained in the role-playing environment and keep them on their toes with contests and spy games.
For a secret agent party, it's all about the atmosphere. Is this the gathering of arms dealers or drug smugglers? Is it a megalomaniacal group meeting to discuss their plot for world domination? Or is it simply a high-stakes poker game that holds the balance of the world's banks at stake? Whatever the basis of the party, the costumes are very important. Your standard double-0 agent should be dressed for the occasion. They want to look like they want to blend in, but still stand out. An evil maniac should still dress with some flash, but should be less straight-laced than their double-0 counterpart. Evil maniacs should also keep exotic pets such as snakes or black panthers. If you don't have access to a black panther, a cat is also an acceptable substitution as they have appeared at the side of many antagonists over the years. Other getups include the suspicious waiter or butler, the evil henchman with a robotic prosthetic, and the mad scientist.
As in any good party, the snacks and refreshments should fit the theme. A secret agent's regular party food includes hors d'oeuvres or antipasto. This may include any type of crackers, cheese, cold cuts, bruschetta, or vegetable platters. Standard party foods such as chips and dip are also acceptable. Nothing says secret agent party better than "I'll have mine shaken, not stirred." The classic line refers to the dry martini preferred by all top notch secret agents. For a double serving, pour one part dry vermouth, two parts vodka, and six parts gin into an ice filled cocktail shaker. Shake until ice cold and serve in a martini glass with a large thin slice of lemon peel. Some agents do prefer something a little less strong, so be sure to serve some wine, coolers, beer or punch as well.
Of course no secret agent party is complete without gadgets. luckily for us, these gadgets always appear to be normal items. A watch could be a tazer and a pen could be a tracking device. A fun idea is to award a prize to the guest with the most creative and plausible device. Upon entrance to the party, all guests must list what their device looks like and what the secret function is. Later, everyone can vote for their favorite. Guests should also come up with code names to use so that the gadgets' owner's identity remains safe through the night. Another prize could be awarded to the guest that can correctly identify the most secret agents by their code names.
A secret agent party is the perfect way to get all your friends into an exciting night of intrigue, mystery, excitement and class.
